A Special Card

A friend is organising a card storm for a young lad who's battling cancer and due for surgery.
I decided to join in. I don't know him, but know he loves bright colours and playing on his Xbox, so Gamer (no poster) from Saturated Canary seemed prefect.

I used papers from the Boy Oh Boy collection from Carta Bella. I used the digi version from Snap Click Supply. I love the bright colours and that paper with the game controllers on is just perfect don't you think?

For someone who tends to make flat cards I'm really pleased with the layers I included in this.

I coloured him with my Copics
Skin - E000, E00, E21, E11, E04 with R20 Cheeks
Hair - E23, E25, E27, E29, E49
Tshirt - R24, R27, R29, R59
Jeans - B93, B95, B97, B99
Game Controller - T3, T5
Shoes - W3, W5, W7
Cushions - Y11, Y15, Y17, YR12, YR16, YR18, BG01, BG05, BG09
Floor - B34, B37, B39

I really hope you like him & hope he brings a smile to the lad's face when I send him.

Blending Outside the Colour Family with Make it Crafty

Do you ever have that experience where an idea for a card or colouring pops into your head and just has to be made? I had that last night. I was super tired and really needed to head to bed - but this one just needed making! I love it when ideas pop into my head like that.

I'm following the Make it Colourful Challenge from Make it Crafty to Blend colours from different colour families and also submitting this to the Make it Crafty DT Call.

Here's what I created.

I used Lilli Faye  and the Birch Forest and typed the sentiment myself.
I stretched Birch Forest a little height wise so it made a scene of better perspective. This is what I love about digi stamps! The ability to alter things a little to make it fit the idea I have.

I decided the Birch Forest looked wintery so I decided to use a cool colour theme.
I created the sky by blending Blue and Blue Green Copics
Bottom to Top - B69, B66, B63, BG01, BG05, BG09

I added a few dabs of Stickles Stardust to give a star like effect.

The trees are E40, E42, E43, E44
and the Cast Shadows are C3 & C2
I even added a subtle Cast Shadow to the sentiment with C1

Here's a close up of Lilli Faye

I continued the theme of blending between colour families when colouring Lilli Faye and shaded her from Blue Green to Blue to White and added some Blue Green to her skin.

Skin E000, E00, E21, E11, E04 with touches of BG15 & BG13
Hair - Y00, Y02, Y08
Dress - B01, B05, Blender
Wings - B01, B02, B05, BG13, BG15, BG18, Blender, Stickles Stardust

I'll admit I'm really pleased with how it turned out. I love being challenged to try something new and while I've blended between colour families before I've not done it to this degree. I love that the idea that popped into my head came out as I hoped it would. Using the Make it Crafty backgrounds to build a scene always creates such impact.

I hope you like it.

Cropped Nice and Close with Make it Crafty

The current Make It Crafty Clean and Simple Challenge is to crop an image close for a card.
I've had this idea floating round my head for a while so just had to make it.
It features a cropped version of Carly Celebrates as the central feature.

I added a cropped version of Confetti Background and faded it out so it's not overpowering.

I coloured the confetti with very light Copics - R00, Y00, G00, B00

Here's a close up of the cropped version of Carly Celebrates

I coloured her with my Copics
Skin - E000, E00, E21, E11, E04 with R20 Cheeks
Hair - Y11, Y15, Y17, YR24, E35
Dress - R24, R27, R29, R59, W7
Hat - B00, B21, B24, B26, B29, Y02, Y08
Hat Bobble - Sakura Stardust Gel Pen
Bracelent - Pilot Super Gel Gold Pen

I really hope you like her. I think I've kept her clean and simple even with the confetti.

I'd like to enter this into the following challenges:
Make It Crafty DT Call

I've made this for the Facebook Challenge for Sweet Escape Digis.
I used Cupcakes Time which I love - the only problem is I'm now craving cake!!!

After Midnight with Saturated Canary

Some more Saturated Canary Colouring from me ( can you tell I'm a little addicted?).
This time it's one of the new releases - After Midnight Princess.

I made the image the focus of the card.
I created the background using Sharpie markers in three shades of blue in my Blitzer hand powered air brush (the 1990's version of the Tim Holtz Spritzer). I love the effect it gives - especially for skies. I cut out a duplicate of After Midnight Princess, added a bead of 2 way glue around the back edge and once dried stuck it down over the original. That way I could spritz to my hearts content without getting any over spray on the image. The mask just peels off after it's finished.

I typed the sentiment and added some Sakura Stardust. I love the way it almost vanishes, but appears when the sparkle catches the light. After all Magic really does exist if you believe.

Here's a close up of  After Midnight Princess.

I coloured her with my Copics
Skin - E000, E00, E21, E11, E04 with R20 Cheeks
Hair - Y11, Y15, Y17, YR24, E35
Dress - B0000, B000, B00, B01, B02, B05, B14, Wink of Stella, Sakura Stardust
Glass slipper - C1, C3, C5, Stickles Stardust, Glossy Accents
Stockings - E50, E51, E53

Pumpkin - YR12, YR14, YR18, E08, E19
Ground - G94, G99, YG96, YG99
Tree - E21, E23, E25, E27, E29, E49
Leaves - G14, G17, G28
Mouse - C1, C3, C5

As always it's a nightmare to capture the wink of Stella shimmer on her dress and the glassy effect of her slipper, but they make a real difference in real life.

I hope you like her.

Some colour from Saturated Canary

I was having a flunky day the other day so decided to colour Copica from Saturated Canary.
She did the trick and I was smiling soon after I started.

I created the background by playing with the Colour Grab Gradient Colour Picker in Craft Artist 2. I'm not entirely sure how I ended up with the effect, but I like it.

I used the same Colour Picked gradient to colour the sentiment I typed.
It makes me smile when I see it.

Here's Copica
I coloured her with my Copics.
She's come out a little bright in the photo - in real life she's lovely and vibrant.
Skin - E000, E00, E21, E11, E04 with R20 Cheeks
Hair - E23. E25. E27. E29, E49

RV21, RV23, RV25, RV29, R39

KennyK's Krafty Krew are teaming up with Graph'it Markers for this challenge.
I've not got any Graph'it Markers to use (I can dream eh?) but I stuck to the colour inspiration they set. Here it is - fun or what!

It took me a while to work out the colours, but I think I got quite close in the end.
I chose Lady Victoria from KennyK Downloads as she's such a great character.

So far I've coloured the 50's, 60's & 80's
So now it's time for the 90's!

The 90's Girl reminded me of TV Shows like Beverley Hills 90210 and of course Friends.
Denim Denim and more Denim & Black & White are the things I remember so that's what I went with.

The quote is unattributed, but I thought it worked nicely for the attitude of the 90's
I added a couple of layers of Sakura Glaze pen to make the writing stand out.

Here's the series so far!

Anything But a Card with Digi Galore

Our challenge this month at Digi Galore Challenges is to make Anything But a Card.

Flowers with Sweet Pea Digis

and this month we're sponsored by Sweet Pea Stamps  who provide digis from a wide range of amazing artists.

I worked with

It was a bit of a challenge using this with the theme 'Flowers' but I decided to use a box frame from The Range along with some paper flowers from That Craft Place. I inked the edges of the rose bud style ones with my Copics so they coordinated with the image.

I typed the sentiment in Craft Artist and gave it a drop shadow.

Here's a close up of Shikoba by Charmiane Flannery

I coloured her with my Copics and decided to try a Monotone effect.
I enjoyed doing it, but definitely need to practice animal hair more!

Copics: W0, W1, W2, W3, W5, W7, W9

I hope you like her x
