Add a Number with Art By Miran

It's challenge time at Through the Purple Haze Challenges and this time the theme is Add a Number and we're sponsored by Art by MiRan. I decided to be super organised and make my nephew's birthday card. I'm amazed at myself as his birthday isn't until the summer! Dino Danny is just perfect for an adventurous 2 year old. I went overboard on the Add  Number theme and made the whole card a number shape.

The papers and tag shapes are from the Carta Bella Boy Oh Boy set. I've used the digi version and added my own words to make it personalised.  I added Glossy Accents to the tags & some of the dots on the paper.

Here's a close up of  Dino Danny

I loved colouring him! I used my Copics
Skin - E000, E00, E21, E11, E04 with R20 Cheeks
Hair - E53, E55, E57, E59
Eyes - B12, B14, B18
Suit - G05, B05, B37, B99 & Blender
Horns - Y11, Y15, Y06, Y35

A Simple Sympathy card with Aurora Wings

Sympathy cards are never easy to make. When I was choosing my image from Aurora Wings for the Flowers Challenge at Through the Purple Haze Challenges I chose the Calla Lily and Rose with a sympathy card in mind. I was planning to make it to have 'in stock' ready for when needed, but sadly I've sent it already.

Calla Lily and Rose is so elegant that it's perfect for a simple heartfelt card with just a typed sentiment.

I used my Copics

R24, R27, R29, R59, W7
Y00, YG00
Y15, Y17, YG24
YG66, YG69, G28
G14, G17, G28
R22

I'd like to enter this into the following challenge:
A huge congratulations on 2 years of amazing challenges xxx

It's challenge time at Through the Purple Haze Challenges and this time the theme is Things with Wings.
We're sponsored by the lovely All Dressed Up Stamps. I love their beautiful digis so was delighted to have Fairy Wings to create with. I used digi papers from their paper packs - one from Pink Papers and one that was included in a giveaway they did through Complete Cardmaking with you PC magazine last year in the UK.

Fairy Wings is so adorable. I chose to colour her in a delicate pink colour. I added Wink of Stella to her dress & Stickles Stardust to her wings and the butterfly wings.

I typed the sentiment in Craft Artist 2

Something Pink with Sweet Escape Digis

It's time for the first challenge of 2016 at Through the Purple Haze Challenges. We're having a bit of a revamp on the challenge and will be having challenges every fortnight rather than every month. That mean's there's twice as much chance of winning! Exciting eh!

The first challenge of the year is Anything Goes & is sponsored by Sweet Escape Digis. I do love those designs. I've gone with the Anything Goes theme, and combined it with the Sweet Escape Digis Challenge of 'Something New'.

Here's the card I made. I've used lots of new things - a new Digi - Flower Fairy from Sweet Escape Digis, a new sentiment from Create with TLC and even a new Wink of Stella pen as I've used up my previous one. I think that means I qualify :P

Here's a close up of Flower Fairy. I've had a break from colouring since before Christmas so it was lovely to get my pens out again. Flower Fairy was a dream to colour. Sooooo much lovely flowing hair!

I tried to colour her top so it resembled a shimmery organza material. I added some Wink of Stella to add to the shimmery effect.

Her hair is so beautiful that I couldn't resist adding a few strands of glitter with my Sakura Stardust Gel Pen. I used Pink Sakura Glaze pen on her earring and bracelet.

I kept the flowers light and subtle - again adding a touch of sparkle with the Sakura Stardust Gel Pen.
I love this sentiment - it's so true. I embellished it with some adhesive gems that I coloured with my RV55 Copic so they match the digi.

Copics Used:
Skin - E000, E00, E21, E11, E04, with R20 Cheeks
Hair - E51, Y11, Y15, E53, E55, E57, E59, Sakura Stardust Gel Pen.
Dress & Flowers - RV52, RV55, RV66, RV69, RV99
Wink of Stella.

I really hope you like her. I'd love to see you join us at Through the Purple Haze Challenges.
Don't forget to stop by Sweet Escape Digis to see their lovely digis.

Christmas with Through the Purple Haze Challenges

It's the final challenge of the year at Through the Purple Haze Challenges and fittingly the theme is Christmas. We had some topper and background sheets from Aspire Crafts to work with. This is what I created.

Using Road to Bethlehem Toppers & Gold Foiled Background

A Gatefold Card
Two of the toppers and a section of the foiled background

 A Card
made with the gold foiled background, one of the toppers, a section of red ribbon and a sentiment embossed with Wow Rich Gold Embossing powder.

It's so difficult to capture the shine of the foiling in photos.

Gift Tag
Simply punched a hole in a topper & threaded with ribbon

Two Christmas Tree Decorations
Made by punching a hole in toppers with my Big Bite and then dipping them in UTEE
It's not a completely clean finish, but they're nice and firm for decorations.

Using Winter Reindeer Toppers & Background

Card with Velum
I covered the backing paper with two sheets of velum to make the pattern more subtle to balance to card. Brads, a rectangle of DCWV Metallic Blue cardstock (I didn't have the right ribbon but this worked perfectly)

Card with homemade background
The background is blue cardstock that I doodles silver snowflakes on.
Toppers mounted on foam pads.

Side fold card
Card base made from black card. I trimmed the left hand topper so there was only one moon on the card (two would have just been confusing). Sentiment embossed with Wow Silver Metallic embossing powder.

I hope to see you over at Through the Purple Haze Challenges.

Winter Wonderland with KennyK

The weather's definitely changing here in the UK. They've started naming the big storms of the year. Last week we had 'Abigail' and at the moment 'Barney' is giving us a battering. Its nice to be tucked inside safely in the dry.

This month's challenge at KennyK's Krafty Krew is Winter Wonderland.
I used Happy Holidays (which is available as a freebie if you sign up to the KennyK Newsletter, and added it into an actual photo bauble.

I decided to go with non traditional colours so used Copics BG01, BG05, BG07, BG09 & B99

I added actual snow
.... ok so not actual snow - but the white Flowersoft does look like snow don't you think?

She's going to look great hanging on my tree this year.

Hope you come over and enter the Winter Wonderland Challenge at KennyK's Krafty Krew
KennyK are also sponsoring Through the Purple Haze Challenges this month and there's still time to enter the It's Hot Inside, but Cold Outside challenge there.

Baby It's Cold Outside with KennyK

Two of my favourite things come together today - well no three actually!
KennyK Stamps are sponsoring Through the Purple Haze Challenges and I've combined my image with a Make it Crafty background! The theme is Baby It's Cold Outside but Hot Inside.

I used Blair Blaze from KennyK  and decided to colour her in a cool colour tone rather than a hot flame.

I coloured her using cool blue Copics

Skin - E000, E00, E21, E11, E04 with R20 Cheeks
Dress - B000, B02, B05, B14, Sakura Stardust Gel Pen

At an angle the light catches the shimmer of the Sakura Stardust pen so you can see it.

The background is Birch Forest from Make it Crafty

I coloured the sky with BV20, BV23, BV25
The trees are E51, E53, W1, W3
The Cast shadows are C2 & C3

Hope to see you join in at Through the Purple Haze Challenges

Halloween with Through the Purple Haze Challenges

It's October so it's time for Halloween. It's a bit early I know, but this project was too good not to share & anyway Halloween can start a little early eh?

Our theme for this month's Through the Purple Haze Challenge is Halloween & we're sponsored by The East Wind. I've wanted to colour Lucy Loo Spellbound for ages & this was my opportunity, and Oh I had fun!!!!

I coloured Lucy Loo Spellbound with my Copics and made the background with Brusho Crystals.
I've wanted Brushos for about 18 months and finally got some. This was my first try playing with them and oh I loved them! They're the total opposite to my normal style of crafting  freestyle, unpredictable & messy - but I did enjoyed playing.
I was intending only using part of this sheet, but the whole A4 looked so like a potion brewing and effervescing that I decided to leave it whole.

Here's a close up of Lucy Loo Spellbound. I coloured her with my Copics and tried to add a touch of greeny yellow light to her face to look as though the spell book was glowing. It doesn't show up brilliantly in the photos, but in real life it's quite striking.

Here's where I played with the Brushos. I sprinkled Black, Yellow and Bright Red crystals and then spritzed with water.
I really love the effect & love how the colours bloom from tiny crystals that look like nothing.
I also think it's great how some of the crystals didn't quite dissolve so give a slight textured finish - it feels like there's real substance to the spell explosion.

Lucy Loo Spellbound is now in pride of place on my wall.
I hope you like her as much as I do.

I'd like to enter her into the following challenges:
The East Wind - Add Texture (texture in the part-hydrated Brusho Crystals) (10th Oct)

Flowers with Sweet Pea Digis

and this month we're sponsored by Sweet Pea Stamps  who provide digis from a wide range of amazing artists.

I worked with

It was a bit of a challenge using this with the theme 'Flowers' but I decided to use a box frame from The Range along with some paper flowers from That Craft Place. I inked the edges of the rose bud style ones with my Copics so they coordinated with the image.

I typed the sentiment in Craft Artist and gave it a drop shadow.

Here's a close up of Shikoba by Charmiane Flannery

I coloured her with my Copics and decided to try a Monotone effect.
I enjoyed doing it, but definitely need to practice animal hair more!

Copics: W0, W1, W2, W3, W5, W7, W9

I hope you like her x
