Lots of Layers with Gorjuss

It's challenge time at That Craft Place and this time the theme is Anything Goes with an optional Layers twist.

Most people find layers easy, but for me they're a real challenge. I use layers occasionally, but generally I keep my cards clean and simple. It was good to have a challenge - though I know I've still not achieved as many layers as some of my stunning co-DT members.

I had a great time playing with some of my Gorjuss stamp sets. I've not played with proper stamps for a while so it was nice to get mucky.

From the front it doesn't look like many layers, but from the side you can see how many layers I built up.

I used Stazon to stamp the frame on the mirror card and then cut it out and mounted it on a white base with 3D foam pads.

I tucked some paper flowers and assembled pearl hat pins behind the frame.

Even the bracket frame and the book are layered up with 3D Foam pads.
I added some glosssy accents around the edge of the bracket to give definition.

I love the rose ribbon. Such a simple idea yet so effective. I layered it on a piece of wider white ribbon so it stands out more.

These are the flowers & hat pins. How pretty are they! I love that they come unassembled and you can make them up as works best with your project.

The photo corner is another Gorjuss stamp which I coloured in and coated with glossy accents

Saturated Canary's Traveller

I'm a huge fan of Saturated Canary stamps and fell in love with the new Traveler digi when she was released.

Krista is having a call out for a Guest DT and I thought I'd be brave and enter.
My style is a lot more 'clean and simple' than many on the DT, but I thought it was worth a go.
You can always dream eh?

Here's what I created.

 Here's a close up.

The sentiment is a freebie from Ginger's House. I thought it reflected perfectly the journey that so many of us face on life & was a lovely affirmation.

I added some Sakura Glaze pen to the 'Be You' to make it really pop.

Traveler was a delight to colour.

I used my Copics
Skin  - E000, E00, E21, E11, E04 with R20 Cheeks
Hair - E21, E23, E25, E27, E29, E49

Happy Birthday to my Nephew

Yesterday my lovely nephew turned 1. I can't believe he's 1 already! It seems no time at all since he was born!

I made him this card with the gorgeous 'I Even Love the Box' from Mo's Digital Pencil.
I absolutely love this image and have used it on many occasions.

I just want to pick him up and cuddle him!

I added some Sakura Stardust pen to the Words (typed in Great Vibes font)
and some Wink of Stella to the wrapping paper.

Oh and to the bow! You can't have a birthday bow without a hint of shimmer can you?
I chose the colours based on his Mum's favourites.

Here's a close up.

I coloured  'I Even Love the Box' with my Copics

Downton comes to KennyK

It's new release time at KennyK Downloads and what a release it is!

It's one single image but I love her to bits. Mentioning no names but does Dowager Countess remind you of anyone? I think some inspiration occurred while watching a certain period drama!

The new challenge over at KennyK's Krafty Krew is Anything Goes so it is nice and easy to put her to use.

I'd seen this quote doing the rounds on the craft groups on Facebook on a picture of Maggie Smith and it had made me laugh each time, so I couldn't resist using it to help decorate some of my craft storage.

Here's a close up of Dowager Countess

I coloured her with my Copics

Skin - E000, E00, E21, E11, E04 with R20 Cheeks

I hope you'll come and join us at KennyK's Krafty Krew

New Release at That Craft Place Etsy

Oh my word!!! Bubbles by the wonderful new artist at That Craft Place Etsy are just adorable! I mean how cute are these little people! I just want to squidge their cheeks!

I couldn't decide which one to use so went a bit overboard and made this Bubbles Family Photo frame.

Not bad for a photo frame I picked up reduced to 73p in the Dunelm Mill sale is it.

Here's some close ups

If you'd like to own these cute Bubbles this weekend is the perfect time to do it
- look at this amazing offer!!!

A Father's Day with Doctor Digi

Gosh My third post for today!

Wow! I'm ahead of the game for once! Two weeks early and my Father's Day card is made!
Admittedly I had a little prompting as it's the theme for today's Digi Galore Challenge.

Our sponsor is Doctor Digi and I couldn't resist using Summer Holiday as it's just so fitting for my Dad with year. It doesn't look like him ( he doesn't have a super moustache), but what it shows is just so right! They were due to go off travelling this summer exploring areas of Europe. Unfortunately two weeks in their camper broke down & the trip came to an unexpected stop. After a flight home & the camper coming home on a transporter it will hopefully be fixed soon so they can be off on their adventure again soon.

So that's why I couldn't resist Summer Holiday
I'm sure some of you won't be able to resist him either!

I did something quite unusual for me and A) I used patterned paper and B) I used that as the basis for my card so chose the colour of the digi items to co-ordinate in.
A little thing I know and what many many people do - it's just something I've always found challenging.

The papers are from the Papermania All Aboard 6x6 paper pad which I got from That Craft Place
I used one main sheet as the background and mounted it on dark blue cardstock.
I cut out the 'Are we there yet' ticket and August calendar page from other sheets of the paper and embellished them with Glossy Accents before attaching them to the backing paper.
I also added Glossy Accents to the 'pin heads' on the noticeboard to make them stand out a little more.

I coloured Summer Holiday with my Copics & a Metallic gel pen.

I added a final touch of Glossy Accents to his glasses, the camper windscreen and the chome body work, then edged the card with the postcard edging from the sheet of borders in the Papermania All Aboard paper stack.

I really hope you like him & we'd love to see the cards you create for your Dad over at Digi Galore Challenge.

Time for Some Cute Button Box Fairies from That Craft Place

I'm totally in love with the new Button Box Fairies from That Craft Place Etsy Shop!
Aren't they the cutest! I got a little carried away and made two for this month's Sugar & Betty Challenge - I just couldn't resist!

The first features Bella. She's just so cute with her wand looking at her beautiful butterfly.
I set her on an Acetate card base as I like the effect it gives.
I cut the grassy layer myself from some green card I had.

My second card is for my niece (yes Bella Button Box Fairy might just be named after her :D
For her card I used the lovely Mia

I kept the card fairly simple, but added a decent touch of sparkle - because what 5yr old fairy would be complete without sparkle eh?

If I'd planned the co-ordination with the wrapping paper I'd have been impressed with myself, but as it happens it was a complete lucky coincidence :P

I hope you'll come across and join us with Anything Goes at  Sugar & Betty Challenge

Bright colours with Through the Purple Haze Challenges

It's challenge time at Through the Purple Haze Challenges

The theme is to use bright colours and as our lovely leader Fiona has left us to spend more time on her charity work for the Children's Hospice Scotland I wanted to make something in her favourite colour - Purple.

Our sponsor is Lacy Sunshine and I have Darla Dogwood to play with.

I decided to make an unusual shaped card base so used a 12 x 12 Shaped Background from the Silhouette Store.
I Scored the back shape about 1cm from the left hand side and attached it to the card front with glue.

Wow what a lot of hair this lovely lady has!!!

I used a mixture of Copics and Promarkers for her (Because I just love the purple combo in the Promarkers and I've not found a similar in Copics)

Skin - E000, E00, E21, E11, E04 with R20 Cheeks
Hair - E53, E55, E57, E59
Dress - Orchid, Purple, Aubergine, Black

Looking forward to seeing your entries at Through the Purple Haze Challenges
