Final chance for A Very Fairy Door!

Last Call!! Last Call!!! 

There are literally a couple of days left to get involved with the A Very Fairy Door Kickstarter Campaign. This is a campaign that is very close to my heart as I have a niece and honorary niece who love fairies and would LOVE to have a copy of this book & fairy door. 

So come on everyone - one last big push. Whether you can pledge $1 Canadian Dollar or much more get it pledged so we can reach the target. If the target isn't reached by the end date no money is collected & it may be a very long time before the book makes it into production.

Here's my final project made using an A Very Fairy Door Fairy illustrated by Krista of Saturated Canary. It's also my last project for my Guest Design Team term at Saturated Canary. To say it's been a dream come true is an understatement and a half. I've had an absolutely amazing time & have loved every minute. Thanks so much Krista for having me as part of the team for these few months.  

My featured Fairy this time is the White Fairy. I made her into a bookmark so she can smile at me every time I read my book.

Night Fairy from A Very Fairy Door

Time for another gorgeous fairy from A Very Fairy Door. 

I am totally and utterly addicted to these fairies that Krista Smith has drawn for the A Very Fairy Door book & consider myself so lucky to have a chance to colour them now as part of the Saturated Canary Guest DT.

A Very Fairy Door is a very special book that's been created by Carlie & Kimberly Brown and illustrated by Krista Smith. It's a beautiful piece of work - a hardcover children's book with an actual fairy door to go with it. It's a beautiful story about how the different fairies come to visit and leave little present. I love how it can be used as a reward for good behaviour as well as being a lovely story all on it's own. Pop over to the A Very Fairy Door page to find out more about it. The book is being funded by a Kickstarter Campaign - this works by people pledging money towards getting the book published. It's an all or nothing  thing - if the target is reached the pledged moneys will be collected & the book will be published, if the target isn't reached no moneys will be processed. 

Pledging money means you're not only helping the book be published, but you could also have a lovely reward yourself. There are different pledge levels available - each with different rewards. Take a look on the Kickstarter Campaign - there's a level that will suit everyone. 

Anyway - enough talk (can you tell I'm passionate about helping get this book created) - here's what I've created with Night Fairy - one of the fairies from the book. 

I made this using a photo bauble I bought after Christmas last year. You can buy them from lots of different places in the lead up to Christmas. I love how easy they are to use, but how effective they are. 

This little beauty is Night Fairy. She's part of the digi stamp collection you can get by pledging certain amounts towards the A Very Fairy Door Kickstarter Campaign.

I printed Night Fairy & cut her out, then coloured her in. 

I added her to the photo bauble & added a spoonful of white Flowersoft as snow.

So simple, but so effective!

Christmas Fairy from Saturated Canary

I know I know! It's only September! I NEVER do Christmas stuff in September, but this little cutie from Saturated Canary just called out to be coloured. I say one, but this is actually two digis - can you work out what I did?

Donna's Fairies are a set of three fairies that Krista drew as a Custom Digi Commission  recently. 

I loved them all as soon as I saw them - especially the Bauble Fairy. I then had a moment of inspiration - Donna's Number's Fairy would work perfectly as a reflection of Donna's Bauble Fairy. I wasn't sure if I could pull it off but am over the moon with how it turned out! 

I used the eraser tool in Craft Artist 2 to erase the inside of the bauble, then placed Donna's Number's Fairy behind the aperture and positioned and sized so she looks like a reflection.

Give Thanks with KennyK's Krafty Krew

Kenny I took inspiration from your Band. Yes I know they won't all look right, but the idea was there.

A Very Fairy Door - Red Fairy

There's a super exciting new project starting at the moment 

An amazing children's book called

It's been written by Carlie and Kimberly Brown and the illustrations are by the wonderful Krista Smith of Saturated Canary. It's a gorgeous story and is interactive to get children involved. It's an exciting time as the book is being launched through a Kickstarter Campaign.

People have an opportunity to pledge different amounts of money (starting at only $5 Canadian) and be part of making this wonderful project come to life. 

There are different rewards at different pledge amounts ranging from a set of 6x4 prints of the Fairies when you donate $15, a set of the digi stamps created by Krista ($25) or a copy of the book that comes with a Fairy Door ($40). There are lots of other pledge/ reward levels too. It's a perfect thing - you get something lovely and you're contributing to get these beautiful books published.

Now I'm a very lucky girl - the digi stamps are ONLY available as part of the pledge reward programme ($25 pledge or more) - but as part of the Saturated Canary Guest DT I've been lucky enough to have them to play with. 

I coloured the Green Fairy the other day - today it's the turn of the Red Fairy. 

I just love this little one - she looks so cheeky!

Steampunk with That Craft Place

Steampunk!!! Argh!!!! 

Steampunk absolutely terrifies me! 

I mean totally and utterly terrifies me!

Luckily That Craft Place has some gorgeous Steampunk Digis so that was a huge help.

My card didn't actually turn out as I was intending - I was planning it in Craft Artist 2 ready to print and colour, but then decided I actually liked it as it was - with just the colour of the lines changed.

Here's Steampunk Owl. I changed the colour from black to brown in Craft Artist 2 and added brown matting layers behind the elements.

The Circle Alphabet come in one file. I separated them and arranged them as I wanted, added drop shadows and a base layer to give them definition.

I love how much dimension the card has....

... but it's all an illusion created with digital drop shadows - from the side you can see it's completely flat!!!!

It's very strange for me to create a project with no colouring, but it was fun to challenge myself and do something different.

Promarker Copic Colour Match

I started colouring with Promarkers and loved them. I moved onto Copics about a year ago, but I still think Promarkers are great pens.

When I was learning to colour I remember finding it really frustrating that so many people coloured with Copics and gave their colour combinations but I couldn't work out the equivalent in Promarkers. 

When I had quite a large collection of both I decided to try to match the colours as closely as I could.

To my surprise a lot of them were different - they varied in tone or hue between Copics and Promarkers too much so I couldn't get a close match. This may have been because of colours I was missing, or it may just be because they don't match. 

These are the colours I found gave a satisfactory colour match. Hopefully they'll be enough to give you a starting point if you're trying to match colours with something you've seen.

I couldn't resist colouring Sarah Emily Selfie. She really made me smile when I saw her.

Make It Crafty DT!!!!

Today I've got amazing news to share with you! I've been picked to be a Guest on the Make it Crafty DT for the rest of the year!!! I honestly can't tell you how happy and humbled I am! I never thought I had a chance of being picked when I entered the DT Call. It's such an amazing group of people that I'm honoured to be part of it!. I'm even happier as a lovely friend Lisbeth has been asked to be part of it too. We were doing a happy dance together over the internet when we found out.

I'm so proud to be able to display this badge.

As part of my Guest DT position I'll be creating something for the Make it Colourful Challenge which happens on the 7th of each month. This month the Challenge is 

I made a simple and easy card using Mini Gothilia (who's available as a freebie in the Make it Crafty Facebook group throughout September. The sentiment is also a freebie in the Facebook group.

I was inspired by last month's challenge of cropping an image and thought Mini Gothilia looked rather fun peeking out with that sentiment.
