I Won!

Wow oh Wow! I won the 1950's challenge on I Love Promarkers!!!  I never win anything so am soooo chuffed! The prize is a pack of Promarkers so I'm even more pleased!

I ♥ Promarkers 1950's Challenge

There are many many other things I should have been doing today, but I've been well and truly distracted by the challenge on I Love Promarkers blog. I'm not normally a big one for following challenges (I normally notice them just after they've finished) but I had a flash of inspiration with this one.

The Topic is The 50's and I immediately thought of my beloved Kenwood Mixer 

My Grandma had it from new in the late 1950's and passed it on to me. It's an A700d so the 3rd model they released. Until a couple of years ago it worked beautifully but then the motor started smoking so it was put to the back of a cupboard. I considered selling it last year but realised I was far too emotionally attached to it so instead paid for the motor to be refurbished & Hubby cleaned out the geaabox and it now works like new! Not bad for a machine that's over 40 years old and was used on an almost daily basis for years!

My first card for the challenge actually uses images from the original manual.

I scanned the page in, cropped and then coloured with my Promarkers. It was a very different experience colouring over a black & white image as a lot of the shading was already there. I hope you like the end result. The mat colour is actually a nice teal/ turquoise but it doesn't seem to have come out very well in the photo.

Another reason I love Promarkers - I was able to colour my own mat for the image and the sentiment and also change the colour of the light pink ribbon I had :D

Saturated Canary Colourings

Diva's taken a turn for the worse again so I spent today downstairs all day keeping an eye on her. We've been told the recovery from Pancreatitis is very slow & relapses are common so the vet wasn't too worried. It's horrible seeing her so ill again though - especially when it looked like she was on the mend. She had a painkiller injection yesterday which left her completely spaced out & very disorientated. She's a bit more settled today but still clearly in pain.

On the plus side I've been able to get some colouring done - I've been playing with some Saturated Canary images. I've learnt a lot about colouring with Promarkers from the Digi Galore group on Facebook & I'm really pleased with the results. I'll make them up into cards but thought I'd share what I've done so far. I'd love to hear what you think x

Owls

I have a wonderful link to share today. I can claim no creative credit for this - it comes from the amazingly talented Irene. You've got to love these Owl Bookmarks in a card - the owl comes off his perch and sits on the top of a page to keep your place in your book.

If you head over to the post on Irene's Blog you can download the PDF and make your own bookmark card - simply print and make a few cuts and you're good to go.

It was my Sister-in-Law's birthday on Monday & I knew she'd love the owls. Being a generous SIL I decided she needed more than one owl on her card. The PDF contains 4 different coloured owls & I wanted to include them all in my card so I adapted it slightly. What do you think? 

I highlighted their eyes with glossy accents & added some stickles glue to the leaves and the greeting.

Here's the inside of the card - I managed to sneak the final owl in here as a surprise.

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all the Dad's out there! Here's the card I made for him - he adores being Grandad for my 2 yr old niece so I thought the free sentiment from Create With TLC worked beautifully for Father's Day.

The image is the lovely Father and Daughter by Mo's Digital Pencil Coloured as ever with my trusty promarkers.

As an update on Diva she's continuing to get better day by day. It's small little steps and will take her a long time to be completely better but she's definitely on the way. She's going to be on a super low fat diet (AKA new mortgage) for about 6 months then we see where she goes from there. We'll take her back to the vets on Thurs for a check up and blood test to find out if it's settled enough or if she needs more antibiotics but from the outside she seems to be on the mend - phew!

Dog, Dragons & Planes

I've not had much time to craft this last week as our boxer has been really ill with pancreatitis. She had 36 hrs in the vets & it was actually touch and go for a while. Luckily we caught it early so with intensive antibiotics & much love and care she's beginning to make baby steps forward. It's going to take a long time for her to be back to normal, but she's heading in the right direction which is great.

I have managed to do a little bit of crafting. First is a card I made for a friend. It's a slightly late but he's been very understanding with Diva being ill. I'll get it in the post tomorrow so it will only be 4 days late :S

The other crafty thing to share is a plane designed with a cutting file made by the very talented Phlumpets Creative Cuts. Liz makes the most amazing designs which you can buy pre-cut or as cutting files ready to use on your electronic cutter.

This plane has a tube of Fruit Pastilles hidden in it's body - how cool is that!

I have had my 18" cutter from Thyme Graphics for over a year now and I LOVE IT! What an amazing piece of machinery.

2nd Birthday Celebrations

Wow! Months without posting then 4 in 4 days! Nothing to post tomorrow though so you'll be safe but I wanted to share these couple of photos with you.

My lovely niece was 2 on Friday & we had a get together with all of the family for a picnic yesterday. In typical British style the weather wasn't great but we had a nice time.

I made this card for her using the lovely image from Mo Manning coloured with Promarkers. I couldn't find a sentiment to say what I wanted so managed to make one myself in Inkscape.

This is the cake I made for the picnic - a yummy cockeyed cake (the yummiest and most easy chocolate cake ever) topped with a fruity union jack. We did have a flag with her name in it too but I forgot to get a picture of that)

Happy Jubilee Weekend Everyone.

Hope you're having fun doing whatever you're up to. Last night we went to the Stockstock music  festival at Stoke-in-Teignhead which was great fun. Today we're off to Dartington to celebrate my neice's birthday - fingers crossed the weather stays dry.

Crafty Sentiments New Digi Release

I belong to the Digi Galore group on Facebook and Jo from Crafty Sentiments Designs asked for volunteers to make some samples with the new designs that are released today. I jumped at the chance - I'm relatively new to digi images but was keen to give it a try.

The image that she sent me - 'He Loves Me' is adorable. I have great fun colouring her in and making some cards. I'm always amazed at how different the same image can look when coloured in different colourways.

I coloured both the images with my promarkers. I'm gradually learning how to use them - I need to work on the hair, but I'm pleased with how they turn out. I even had the urge to doodle on the cards! I've never been brave enough to do that before!

I need to work on my camera skills because the cards are brighter and clearer in real life.
