Sat 20th Nov – Sea Day

We slept really well which was nice. Today was spent at sea which gave us a chance to explore the ship and investigate the huge range of food. Honestly I think we’re going to be twice the size by the time we come home! I do apologise if this blog ends up as mainly a description of meals! Breakfast was in the Horizon Buffet – they had anything you could possibly want to eat there. It was really busy so we ended up sat outside, but shaded from the wind it was a fine temperature. After that we explored the ship some more. There’s so much to see. Luckily there’s quite a long way to walk so that will hopefully keep us slightly fitter. We’re being good and using the stairs rather than the lifts too.

We weren’t intending to eat any lunch, but the Sushi buffet on deck looked so tempting and as neither of us has tried sushi before we thought we’d give it a go. I’m really glad we did as it was gorgeous! (I can see Mum and Dad falling over in shock at me liking raw fish!) The pickled ginger and wasabi were rather strong, but the rest were beautiful. The Fruit Sculpture was amazing.

More wondering around the ship getting our bearings, Andy had an icecream on deck for pudding, I had a go at the card making class, and we had a snooze before getting ready for our first formal night.  We were a bit apprehensive but it was quite fun. We chose the Pacific Moon Dining Room (we have a choice of 4 dining rooms on Anytime Dining). It’s like a very posh restaurant and the food was stunning. We sat on a table next to a lovely German couple who live in Munich. Andy had Creamed asparagus soup with salmon dumpling, followed by the daily special of glass noodles with prawns & scallops and stir fried vegetables, then an irish coffee. I had Chicken Wonton Soup (which was incredible) followed by the noodle special and flambed banana. The restaurant staff then bought us a beautiful chocolate cake with a sugar rose  and a candle on top and presented it to us with a ‘Happy Honeymoon’ card accompanied by everyone singing ‘Happy Honeymoon’ to the tune of Happy Birthday! We also have ’Just Married’ Balloons outside our cabin and a ‘Happy Honeymoon’ sign on the door.

We watched a few of the entertainments and had our photos taken. It’s lovely to see everyone dressed up.
