A Very Fairy Door - The Sequel - Kickstarter project

Well here we go - the lesser spotted Lucy colouring again. A rare occurrence these days I know, but mojo is still missing after all this time. I know it will come back - I'm hoping soon. Despite mojo being low on the ground I couldn't resist asking if I could be part of the next step in the 'A Very Fairy Door' story.

I don't know if you remember but a few years ago the lovely Carlie Brown & Kimberly Brown wrote a beautiful story about the fairies who visit through a fairy door in houses. The wonderful Krista Smith of Saturated Canary illustrations made the story come to life. The book was dreamt up to appeal to children at home and also help poorly children in the Children's Hospital of East Ontario. It was a beautiful book with a lovely story & a real fairy door to go in the child's room. The Kickstarter campaign was successful and many children around the world discovered the magic of the book.

Now Carlie, Kimberly are back with a new story - A Very Fairy Adventure! It's a beautiful 40 page children's book with new characters including the Fairy Baby Maeve illustrated by Krista.  It's being created through fundraising on Kickstarter. You can pledge support at various different levels & receive different levels of rewards. For crafters there's the chance to own four new Krista Smith digi stamps, for parents & grandparents (and just the young at heart) there's the chance to own the new book and even get the original book complete with Fairy Door if you weren't lucky enough to get one first time round. You can find all the information here: A Very Fairy Adventure Kickstarter.

I'm lucky enough to be able to play with the exclusive new Krista Smith A Very Fairy Adventure digi stamps before they're released (who am I kidding - I begged to be allowed to). This first one I played with is the boy fairy who features in the new A Very Fairy Adventure. I coloured him with my copics & had such fun. These characters really are a dream to colour.

Here's his close up. What a character eh! I can't wait to see what adventures he gets up to in A Very Fairy Adventure!

The sentiment is the Believe Layered Sentiment Chipboard word from Make it Crafty (I do love these chippies - so great to use). I added Wink of Stella to give it some shimmer over the copic colour.

It's so tricky to capture sparkle in photos. I added Wink of Stella to his wings - cos what fairy doesn't have sparkly wings?

A Fairy Bluebell Birthday

Well it's been a very long time since I posted. A mixture of physical health problems and emotional wobbliness has meant I've hardly done any crafting at all this year. Mojo seems to be on a very extended break. I know it will come back, but I do miss that itch to create. The recent beautiful display of bluebells in my garden encouraged me to get my pens out and colour lovely Bluebell Fairy

I'm really lucky as my Mum is a keen gardener so I'm surrounded by a beautiful garden. This year we had bluebells in the traditional blue, but also in white & purple. Really pretty especially with the yellow pop of cowslip too. The joys of an English Country Garden.

I decided to stick with the classic blue for Fairy Bluebell.

Here's a few close ups.
A little quirky thing but I love the effect of her wing popping over the edge of the card.

Here's a close up of her bluebell skirt. I added a bit of glow from her lantern.

I used Happy Script Word and Birthday Brush Script Word chippies from Make it Crafty and coloured them with a few layers of Platinum Brilliance Ink pad to give a good shine.

A final bit of shimmer with some Clear Wink of Stella on her wings and I was finished.
Well what fairy is complete without a little shimmer & shine?

I do hope you like her & I hope it won't be nearly as long until I'm sharing creations with you again x

Lets Go Dotty! Challenge with Tiddly Inks Stamps

It's challenge time over at Tiddly Inks Challenge and the theme is Lets Go Dotty..... I'm worried I may have taken the title a little too seriously! Sooooo many dots! I decided to use Eat More Cake as I knew she'd look super cute in polka dots.

I'm still in a major crafting funk at the moment due to health etc so it was nice to get my pens out and have a play.  I added all the dottyness with my Sakura Glaze White Gel Pen. It goes on clear, but then gives really bright white spots once it dries. A magic that Zoe from Make it Crafty introduced me to. Here's her close up.

I used some chipboard from Make it Crafty for the sentiment and continued the dottyness on those. I told you I got a bit carried away with dots!

Copics used:
Skin - E000, E00, E21, E11, E04 with R20 cheeks
Hair - Y11, Y15, Y17, YR24

Flowers - R27, R29, R59, YR04, YR27
Shadows - W2, W3, W5

I hope you come over and join in the Tiddly Inks Lets Get Dotty Challenge. I'd love to know what you think.

Tiddly Inks April Challenge

For the April Tiddly Inks Challenge we're all Showcasing the same image - this lovely mermaid couple.

I decided to use the precoloured version of the https://www.tiddlyinks.com/digital-stamps/little-valentines-mermaids-stickers-and-digital-stamps/stickers and created an April planner sheet. I made the planner sheet from scratch (with a few interesting mistakes along the way) and sized the stickers to fit. I didn't have any printable sticker paper so used a large sized address label - it's amazing what you can adapt when you want to.

Here's the completed pages added into my notebook. Love how it turns out!

A close up of the pages.

It was different for me using precoloured images rather than colouring myself, but it was lots of fun.

Don;t forget to come over to the Tiddly Inks Challenge to see the DT creations & join in the challenge yourself.

Now you know I have a soft spot for fairies and these fairies are no exception. I chose Lily Fairy and decided to base her on a Stargazer Lily. It's one of my favourite lilies - such a beautiful vibrant colour with pretty spotty details. I decided to make her the full focus so for once haven't added a sentiment to the front of the card.

Here's her close up. I coloured her wings to look like the stargazer lily leaves, her hair decoration to look like cala lily and I kept the shading on her hair to a touches of grey so she's almost a platinum blonde.

Now a close up of her dress - the lily flower. I tried to build in the bright yellow & green you get at the base of the stargazer lily flower & then the beautiful vibrant pinks of the main petals. A challenge to colour, but I hope I achieved the look.

Here she is complete. I really hope you like her.

Winter Snowflake Fairy with Make it Crafty

My crafty mojo is definitely missing at the moment, so it was a nice surprise when the idea for this card popped into my head asking to be made. I chose Fairy Butterfly Bliss digi from Make it Crafty and paired her with the Winter Snowflake Edge Chipboard.

I used two layers of Wow Super Fine White Embossing Power on the  Winter Snowflake Edge Chipboard. and then added some White Frost Shimmer paint on the stars to give it a bit of sparkle.

I kept the colouring on Fairy Butterfly Bliss digi subtle as I wanted her to look like a winter fairy who was scattering snowflakes (helped by some dots of White Sakura Glaze pen). I added some Frost White Shimmer paint to her dress make her extra magical.  I coloured the background with my copics keeping the blending not completely smooth so it resembles the Northern Lights.

On her wings I used Wink of Stella & Sakura Stardust to add sparkle & shimmer. I cut around the edges of her wings which allowed me to slip the Winter Snowflake Edge Chipboard behind her wings giving the card extra dimension.

I hope you like her.

A Scruffy Christmas with Make it Crafty

I've been in a crafty slump recently, but Zoe's amazing Christmas discount offer & inspiration has got my fingers tingling & wanting to colour again.  I decided to colour Scruffy as he looks as though he's a little down in the dumps like I've been - and he's so darn cute!!! No way of staying grumpy when he's around - he definitely made me smile - I hope he does you too.

Clean & simple as is my favourite style. I've teamed him with words from the Christmas Adapt-a-word & three sizes of Star Tinklings. Here's his close up. He's caught the light a bit so looks a bit shiny which he isn't in real life. I had fun colouring the bells to make them look rounded.

I coloured the chippies with gold gel pen & added a layer of Stickles Stardust. I've said it before & I'll say it again - I LOVE Chippies!!!

The Tinkling Stars are so shiny!

I hope Scruffy has made you smile. Don't to check out the Christmas Specials section on the Make it Crafty website - there's 20% off a range of Christmas digis, rubbers stamps & chippies. It's for a limited time only so don't miss out!

Dimension Challenge with Tiddly Inks Stamps

I had such fun creating this for the Dimension Challenge over at Tiddly Inks Stamps Challenge blog. Whenever I have a dimensional challenge the shadow boxes from Make it Crafty spring straight to mind. I love the amazing effect they give! I've used the Thin Circle Shadow Box as a base for Rudolf Reindeer and his friends and love how they're flying through the sky!

I used the Confetti Sparkle digi paper from The Lovely Studio as the background and finished it with the Happy and Christmas layered words from Make it Crafty.

You can see all the dimension! The reindeer are flying across the sky! I love how the shadow boxes from  Make it Crafty come with a flat packed 3D stand so they are freestanding. So clever!

I layered the second and fourth reindeer to add even more dimension & the whole string is lifted from the outer circle with foam pads.

Here's a close up of Rudolf Reindeer. I used him four times, but with different scarf colours, noses and spot colours on their rump they don't immediately appear to be the same image. I've added a touch of Stardust Stickles to the top of the scarves & some of the stars to give a bit of shimmer.

Here's a close up of the Happy and Christmas layered words from Make it Crafty

I hope you like my creation and will come and join in the Dimension Challenge over at Tiddly Inks Stamps Challenge blog

A Flowery Card with Make it Crafty

I'll freely admit that I've had a major crafting slump & have struggled to create anything over the last few months. I mentioned this to Zoe & she decided to set me a challenge to get my mojo working again. This is what she set me....

Now I'll freely admit I sat with my mouth open at this - I mean I love flowers in real life, but they never tend to be the first thing I go to to colour. Fussy cutting .... layering ..... argh!!!!

OK big breaths ..... big girl pants on and off I go.

Actually I'll admit it took me nearly two weeks to get crafting, but I'm pleased with what I produced in the end. Here it is.

Here's a close up of the main rose & leaves from the main rose and leaves from the Floral Elements Three Digi Stamps Set. The set contains two rose heads, three smaller flower/ buds and some leaves. They're in .PNG format so are really easy to layer and build into an arrangement.

I layered the elements together & printed them all as one and then with some of the leaves & the flowers separately. Once I'd coloured them I used my Silver Bullet Cutting machine to print & cut them (yes I cheated - I didn't fussy cut by hand). I layered the different elements using 1mm, 2mm and 3mm foam pads.

As a finishing touch I added clear Wink of Stella to some of the petals.

I coloured the 2 inch Hello Brush Script Word Chipboard with my Copics and then added a layer of Stickles Stardust.

I finished it off with a layer of Glossy Accents on the chippie & Stickles & Glossy Accents on the bubble elements.

I hope you like my creation. It's taken a while but I think my mojo is finally beginning to return. I'm happy as I've really missed crafting!

Colour Challenge with Tiddly Inks Stamps

Well my crafting mojo seems to have been in hibernation for the last few months. I'm hoping the change in the season & this colour challenge from Tiddly Ink Stamps will help. The challenge was to use a colour swatch as inspiration so I paired Greeting Fairy (one of my favourites) with some papers from Samantha Walker Autumn Harvest pack.

Here's the colour scheme I was following - not my normal 'go to' colours at all!

Here's Greeting Fairy's close up. I added shimmer to her dress & full on sparkle to her wings. Well I mean a fairy has to have sparkly wings doesn't she?

The sentiment is typed & then I added two layers of clear Sakura Glaze pen.

Copics Used:
Skin - E000, E00, E21, E11, E04 with R20 Cheeks
Hair - Y11, Y15, Y17, YR24

Wings - YR000, YR00
Wink of Stella
Sakura Clear Glaze Pen
Stickles Stardust

I hope you come and join in the colour inspiration challenge over at  the Tiddly Inks Challenge Blog.
